Let’s be honest, who is genuinely a fan of the whole ‘New Year, New Me‘ and all the resolutions that come with it?
Not me.
So after all the craziness that 2020, unexpectedly may I add, brought us, I decided that 2021 was NOT going to be a year where I needed to change or improve myself. I just want to fully focus on being happy.
Now that doesn’t mean I’m not happy now because I am, since my last blog post (yes it has been ages since the last one, I don’t need reminding as I feel guilty enough as it is!) I have moved out and in with my boyfriend to a flat in London, which has always been a dream for me, so I am very happy even if we are now stuck inside on Lockdown.
What I mean by happy is, fully accepting myself for who I am on the inside and outside i.e. mentally and physically, not when I am inside or go outside (I think you all knew that though…). I have turned a page on body image, I am fed up of looking at all the edited photos of influencers online and wishing that I looked like that because I won’t ever look like that and realistically I don’t want to because then I wouldn’t be me. So MASSIVE tip for you all…
- Have a social media clear out! Go through your Instagram, Twitter, Facebook whatever you use daily and unfollow anyone who makes you feel like crap.
We are so obsessed with how we are presented on social media and it isn’t healthy and it definitely is not real life. Everyone has days when you’re feeling yourself, your hair, make-up or outfit is just on point BUT we also have days when all you want to do is put on your pjs, grab a tea and hide your body away and that’s totally normal but we don’t see a lot of that online. So do it, bite the bullet and unfollow them. This is your life, your journey so make you happy, as long as you’re not harming anyone, that is your priority.
Here are some influencers who I have started following on Instagram and my goodness are they amazing, new hero’s to me ❤️
Nelly London
Megan Jayne Crabbe
Stephanie Yeboah
Mik Zazon
Alex Light
Danae
Shana Minei Spence
Give them a follow, I promise you won’t regret it! Also, I know there must be loads of male identifying accounts however for me personally, the above are my new inspiration.
There will be ZERO resolutions for me, I never enjoyed setting them anyway so fuck it, it’s my life and I just want to be happy within myself and crack on! Already I feel better, I have noticed that less often I over analyse my stomach or feel bad for having chocolate so I beg you, do it and give yourself a much needed break from having to feel ‘perfect‘.
So, I know this blog is called ‘No Brand Marketing Girl’ and believe me it still is cause screw all that trying to find what my niche is, my niche is me and being real so here it continues in 2021. My promise to be totally and completely real!

I loooooved this! Yasss!!! Social media clean outs should be the first cleaning you do before your spring and fall cleanings! Also I am a big fan of the no resolution decision. I don’t need the extra pressure. The only resolution I can make and try to accomplish is to try to be my own best self. Each day, every day. If I fail, that’s it, it’s human, but it should be my priority.

I’m so glad you do💜💜 yes exactly, a social media clean out was the best thing I did! I completely agree, the best resolution is to be true to yourself! Thank you so much for your lovely comment x

I love this so much! I’ve made a few blog resolutions, but I refuse to make personal ones! The last year has taught us to look after ourselves and I don’t want to put pressure on myself to exercise everyday or something when sometimes I just can’t! Also a social media cull is a must!

Yes there is already so much pressure on us, especially with lockdown, it feels like you should be improving yourself constantly when really you’re always good enough!
It is a must, something I’d never done before and loved doing it! Thanks for your comment x

I love this and how you’re just trying to focus on yourself and your happiness – that’s the most important thing. I completely agree about clearing out social media accounts as I did that recently and feel so much better for it xx
